After a long, hot Summer, I think it’s safe to say that we’re all excited that Fall is finally here! You’ll really be feeling the Fall vibes when you spend the day at Thompson Farm and Nursery. Here, you’ll find attractions such as a pumpkin patch, corn maze, farm animals, hay wagon ride, kids play area, and plenty more activities for all ages! Watch the fireworks over Lake Broadway for the Halloween Fireworks Extravaganza, beginning at 8:00 pm on October 31st at Broadway at the Beach.
Of course, there’s more to Fall than just enjoying the many seasonal activities offered in your area. You should take this time to prepare for the upcoming Winter months and the colder weather that accompanies them. Seaside Grove has some tips to help prepare your apartment for the colder weather to keep you and your family warm this Fall/Winter without breaking the bank. Reverse your ceiling fans- this helps because it pulls the cool air up to the ceiling and then disperses the warmer air throughout the room. Use draft stoppers on your doors- these are quick and easy to put in place or remove and help to prevent a draft of cold air from entering into your apartment from under the door. Install insulated curtains- these help to keep the cold air out and the warm air in your apartment. Use a dehumidifier- these are helpful during the colder months because they reduce the discomfort of the dry air as well as increasing the efficiency of your heating system. Before the temperatures get too cold, turn on your heat to test it out and make sure it’s working properly. If you experience any issues, let maintenance know so the issue can be resolved before the cold weather arrives!
Enjoy your Fall season! We’re looking forward to seeing you and your neighbors at our upcoming events this month. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see what events we’re planning in the months to come!

Let’s face it, moving is stressful! At least once in your life, you’ve probably grumbled the words “I’m never moving again!”. However, life is ever-changing and moving is inevitable, so we’re here to provide some essential moving tips that will make the process go much more smoothly and painlessly.
In an effort to be as prepared as possible, keep a box of moving-day essentials handy. This box should contain items such as packing tape, permanent markers, disinfecting wipes, bottled water, paper towels, toilet paper, band aids, pain reliever and some snacks. In all the chaos and disorganization that comes along with moving, having these necessities on hand and close by, should help to alleviate some of your stress and aid in productivity.
Hiring a moving company to assist with this grueling undertaking will not only speed up the process, but also take much of the physical labor off your hands. Fortunately, the Myrtle Beach area has many reputable moving companies who are willing and ready to get the job done. Two Men and a Truck and College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving are a couple of the most popular moving companies in the Myrtle Beach area and can frequently be found assisting residents of Seaside Grove with their moving needs.
When it comes to packing, cardboard boxes are typically the “go-to” for most individuals. An alternative option is to purchase a few large, plastic storage totes. Often times, they can be more durable than cardboard boxes, and they are great for storage once you’re finished with the move and all your belongings have been unpacked. Opting for the clear version of these totes can be very helpful when looking for a specific item or to easily determine what’s packed inside.
Where to Find Packing Materials
Packing fragile/breakable items is always challenging! For this daunting task, bubble wrap will definitely come in handy! Bubble wrap can be purchased, by the roll, at many different locations near you- Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Staples and Office Depot. Towels, paper towels, newspaper, or plastic grocery bags can also be used in place of bubble wrap to secure your breakable items during the move. For larger items such as mirrors, TVs, art, or large picture frames, blankets can be draped over these items for additional protection. Rolling suitcases can be used for transporting heavier (non-breakable) items such as books!
Packing Clothes Gently
Wardrobe boxes are another very useful tool when it comes to packing. These boxes can be purchased at stores like the ones listed above for purchasing bubble wrap. However, a cheaper alternative, and probably the best moving hack that we’ve come across, is to use garage bags in place of wardrobe boxes. Leave your clothes hanging where they currently are. With an open garbage bag, start at the bottom of the clothes and surround them with the garbage bag. Continue to pull the bag up until you’ve reached the hangers. Once you get the top of the bag around the hangers, tie the drawstring around the “hook” part of the hangers to keep them all in place for easy transporting!
Minimize and Declutter
One upside to moving is that it gives you a chance to go through all of your belongings and purge the items that you no longer want or need. Now you may be asking yourself what to do with said items. Fortunately, there are a number of companies to help with this – Goodwill, Salvation Army, and Habitat for Humanity are all great places to drop off donations. If you have larger items that you wish to donate, but are unable to transport, some companies allow you to schedule a pick-up with them. If you have other “junk” that cannot be donated, you can try College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving or 1-800-GOT-JUNK.
Good luck with your move! We hope that you enjoy these tips so you can feel prepared for your new residence. Moving is a chance to refresh your belongings and restyle your space. Take advantage of this opportunity and make it the best apartment you’ve ever had!
As the Summer months begin to dwindle down, we look forward to the cooler temperatures and lower humidity that accompany the Fall season. What better way to embrace what’s left of the summer free time than to explore your local Farmer’s Market with your friends, family or furry friend! We love supporting local farmer’s and collecting local produce while enjoying the atmosphere of our neighborhood.
Myrtle’s Market (https://www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com) is open every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (approximately April through October). There is plenty of parking available for visitors. Fresh local produce, seafood, baked goods, plants and flowers, jewelry, art and homemade items/crafts are just a few of the many things that can be found while exploring the Myrtle Beach Farmer’s Market.
Late Summer/early Fall is the perfect time to find seasonal produce such as apples, blackberries, blueberries, broccoli, cabbage, cantaloupes, eggplant, herbs, peaches, peppers, raspberries, squash, tomatoes and watermelons.
There are so many benefits that come along with buying fresh, local produce! Not only does the locally-grown produce taste better, but it is usually more nutritious. The produce is picked at its peak ripeness (often times within 24 hours of your purchase) for that perfect farm-to-table freshness! Remember, when you buy local, you are helping to support the local economy.
The summertime is always full of fun events here in Myrtle Beach! Surrounded by some of the best restaurants and bar experiences, as well as natural adventures, you can fill your schedule with the best events in Myrtle Beach when you live at Seaside Grove apartments.
