Gather your Seaside Grove neighbors and celebrate Irish heritage this Saturday, March 12 at the28th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach. Each year, about 30,000 spectators join in the fun and enjoy a variety of street vendors, live music, children’s area with rides and amusements.
The event kicks off with a parade, which begins at 9:00 a.m. at the BiLo at the Beach shopping center on Main Street and proceeds east towards the ocean on the west bound lane of traffic. Click here to see a map of the route.
Should festivalgoers wish to participate, there are a couple of contests being held this St. Patrick’s Day weekend. The Leprechaun Contest will judge contestants based on originality, creativity, appearance, enthusiasm and energy. This contest gets started at 2 p.m. and winners will receive a $100 gift card to Wal-Mart, a festival t-shirt and souvenir of achievement.
The Shepard’s Pie Eating Contest begins at 2:30 p.m. and challenges participants to clean their plates without using their hands. First to finish wins bragging rights and a stylish plaque designed by Coastal Engravers.
